Current Multnomah students, faculty, and staff may borrow physical library resources at no charge using a current Multnomah ID card. Free reciprocal borrowing is available for current students, faculty, and staff at OPALL Consortium Libraries (Bushnell University, Corban University, Mt. Angel Abbey, and Western Seminary, and participating Atla institutions with a current MU ID.

• Your MU ID card is your library card. Please have it with you when you check out any physical item.

• MU graduates may activate their free, lifetime library card at the library.

• Alumni who did not graduate may also purchase a lifetime library card for $10 from the library.

• All other public patrons may purchase an annual $25 library card.

Picture ID is required for guests to get a temporary login for workstations and MU Guest WiFi. Please visit us at the front desk for access.

The library accepts donations for our collection that meet specific criteria. For details, please consult our Gift Book Policy.

Overdue items accrue fines as follows: $0.25 per item per day for regular circulation items, $1 per video per day, and $1 an hour for reserve materials. Please pay at the library front desk with cash, check, or card. For lost or irreparably damaged library resources, library patrons are responsible for the replacement cost plus a $15 processing fee. Failure to pay fines and fees may result in the loss of borrowing privileges

A copy machine/printer is located on the main floor of the library. Prints/Copies vary in price depending on paper size and color vs. black & white. Free scanning is also available. Please check at the front desk of the library for more information.

Library materials can be renewed as long as the item is not overdue, does not have a hold on it, or has not reached its renewal limit. All users may renew by logging in to your library account here. To renew interlibrary loan items, please request a renewal via or (503) 251-5322.

Most required textbooks are available on the reserve shelf at the library’s main desk. Please request by title. Check out time is two hours with one possible renewal, unless another patron requests the item. Reserve materials may leave the library unless otherwise noted. Overnight check out is allowed 30 minutes before the library closes.

Come find your favorite table, couch, or desk. Snacks and covered drinks are welcome!

Interlibrary Loan

In partnership with other libraries, and as a part of our commitment to support MU programs and our community, we provide access to resource sharing through the Interlibrary Loan service. This allows current Multnomah University students, faculty, and staff to order articles and books not available in our physical or digital collections.

Please allow 2-7 days for article delivery and 7-10 days for hardcopy books.
